girls weaved handbag

This is a bag i made for my friends little girl, i used various strips of fabric (some i dyed myself using procion dyes) then weaved them to make a peice of fabric. i pinned the strips of fabric to a piece of felt for,  i then machine sticthed using a fancy stitch setting on my machine (looks a bit like a herringbone stitch) to secure the strips of fabric together, once i'd stitched between all the strips of fabric, i then attached some colourful buttons using dufferent coloured thread.
i used a piece of velour type fabric (which i also dyed with hot pink procion dye) for the lining.
i found a lovely flowerey fat quarter to bind the top of the bag to hide the raw edge.

i made a tassle using lovely colourful yarns (from texere yarns...undyed vegetable pack) i dyed the yarns using procion dyes. i attached some lovely gold rings taken from an earring set i bought from primark, these were to attach the strap to, the strap is a candy strip woven ribbon.
